Do you still use traditional business cards? Post COVID, are they still relevant?

Some people have now moved to NFC cards to give their details out automatically, and a few use QR codes in the same way.

Twenty years ago, at a conference in the US, I had a conversation with two fellow attendees who told me about a salesman who had cards that cost $40 each. He was a freelancer who specialised in maximising sales at conferences and exhibitions and used his card to land lucrative exhibition stand jobs.

I never met him, nor did I see his card. But the story always intrigued me.

Over the years, I have revisited the idea of having something unique. In late 2019, I designed some puzzle cards, but post-COVID, there never seemed to be any need for them.

As I am increasingly attending more events, I realised I needed some new cards – so I set about creating some new ones. As there are different elements to what Bingo Rental does, I now have five cards:

The Violin and Bow

Your events may be making all the right notes, just not necessarily in the right order… Separate the bow from the Violin, taking care not to break or cut the strings or tear or cut the Violin or bow.

The Bar and Rings

Remove the rings without bending the bar.

Defuse the Dynamite

While it looks very simple, Defuse the Dynamite is probably the most challenging puzzle to solve.

Remove the fuse from the Dynamite; don’t tear the card or Dynamite or break the fuse.

Lottery Machine

Remove the lottery ticket from the card without tearing the card, ticket, bending the balls or cutting or untying the string.

Bingo Tickets

Remove the bingo tickets from the card without tearing the card, tickets, bending the balls or cutting or untying the string.

My favourites

The Violin and Bow, and Defuse the Dynamite.

Do you know the origin of the quote “Your events may be making all the right notes just not necessarily in the right order…”? Comment below if you do.

Defuse the Dynamite is probably the most challenging puzzle to solve.

When you see me at an event, ask for a card.
