According to research, playing bingo requires concentration and listening skills, and by exercising these, you sharpen your cognitive abilities. The game can help you improve your business events and training.

Bingo is a brilliant educational tool. In fact, for over 150 years, we have used it as a teaching tool. If you have kids, I bet you have a bug, animal, or picture-based bingo game amongst their toys. There is a very good reason for that: it is a fun way to learn and reinforce knowledge.

But on a deeper level, for a business scenario, there is another benefit: it helps increase adrenaline and your heart rate, creating the perfect state for learning and retention. It keeps you alert, too. The military was aware of this, and long before commercial bingo became legal in the early 1960s, the game was allowed in the armed forces from as early as the 1840s. It was played on troopships heading to the Boer War, in the trenches of Epres during World War I, and extensively by troops during World War II.

How do you add bingo to your training event or conference?

First, when you are presenting a lot of new information to your attendees, you can use bingo to break up the day. Play the game just before a main session where you want to impart important information. To achieve the maximum effect, spread games throughout the day, just before your important presentations.

Alternatively, we can work with you to create a bespoke game that explicitly reinforces the key points you want your audience to learn and remember. You get to keep and reuse your game to deepen the learning back at the office as well.

Finally, you have a game or more to add a fun element to your day. Compass Group, One Retail, used bingo to break up their conference day and raise much-needed funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Bingo is the perfect equaliser because players, regardless of their level of education or knowledge, have the same chance to win.
