Add drama to your raffles and create engaging, random results that captivate your audience.

You might think you need a machine that holds 500 balls to run a raffle or lottery for 500 people (or 500 tickets). This is not true. Using what is called a combination draw, you can run a raffle with 495 tickets using just 12 balls.

The National Lottery uses combination draws for both Lotto and Euromillions. Their draws have millions of combinations, making it harder to win. But with just 12 balls, selecting four at random gives you just 495 combinations.

Combination draws have numerous benefits. First, you only have 12 balls to deal with and not 500. Technically, you should verify your draw by checking each ball’s weight and size. Doing that for all 500 balls would take a long time and be very expensive! It’s quick and easy to do with just 12 balls.

Second, if you have ticket 393, how do you know your ball is actually in the machine? You would have to film the whole lengthy, time-consuming, laborious process of loading all the balls with their numbers showing to prove it. With just 12 balls, you can easily see them all in the machine.

Finally, in addition to your winner, you get over 20 people who had three of the four numbers on their ticket. Drawing four numbers is much more engaging for your participants. It keeps more people involved for longer, building both tension and excitement.

Multi-Chamber Raffle Draws

Another way to run a raffle draw for 500 is to use a multi-chamber device like our Blyton Lottery Machine. You only need 25 balls for 500 tickets: In the first chamber, you have numbers 0 to 4, and then 0 to 9 in both the second and third chambers. This gives you numbers in from 000 to 499.

Again, it’s very easy to see all the balls in the machine, and you only have 25 balls to check.
