Kalon Manufacturing Company released the Kalon Bingo Game around 1950.
Operating out of Brooklyn, New York, in the 1940s and 1950s, Kalon Manufacturing Corp also known as Kalomatic Works, manufactured lithographed tin novelties and mechanical toys. It is best known for producing tin lithographed automatic gambling and parlour games in the mid-20th century.
The popular collectable Bingo Game features a small tin box machine with a slot-machine-style thumb lever. Using its “Kalomatic” automatic tumbler mechanism, pressing the lever triggers the internal tumbler to roll and display bingo numbers through a small viewing window. It originally shipped as a complete set with game cards and chips.
The machine has three tumblers: a letter tumbler (B, I, N, G, O, and All) and two numbered tumblers (0 to 5). This gives a possible 180 combinations for the bingo tickets; normal UK bingo has 90 numbers. Unlike a lot of bingo machines where numbers come up once during a game, there is no mechanism to stop numbers being repeated with a Kalon machine.
The bingo cards are 5 x 5, like American 75-number bingo cards.
Today, surviving games are highly sought-after.
One drawback of the machines, since they were sold as a parlour game, is that they came with only 24 bingo tickets. So we have extended this and added 135 more tickets, so you can now enjoy playing the Kalon Bingo Game with larger groups. Download them for free below.
